Marriages are settled in heaven, and celebrated on earth and when it comes to celebrating a wedding, Henna is a must in Indian (South Asian) weddings. There are so many belief & stories associated with Henna.......
- If you are an invitee and host doesn't offer you henna, it's an insult & same goes vice versa. If you are offered henna by the host & if you turn down, that's a big insult & is interpreted as you are not part of the celebration.
- Also it’s believed the darker the color of bridal henna, stronger the bond between the couple.
- As long as bride has henna on her hands, she is forbidden from cooking & doing any household work (how cool is that :). As a female i loved this & wish my henna would have never fade away ).
- Henna artist hides groom’s initials somewhere in the intricate henna design & groom is challenged to find it. No matter if he can or cannot, he has to pay very dearly to get a glimpse of the bride’s henna.
